Benefits Medical, Dental, and Vacation on the first of the month following 90 days of employment. Vacation accrual at a rate of two weeks per year for the first five years.
Program The Unity Council is a non-profit community development corporation Summary committed to enriching the quality of life of families primarily in the Fruitvale District of Oakland. Its primary focus has been to create a healthier and safer community for families and residents by implementing and managing integrated programs addressing the economic, social, and physical development.
Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Human Resources Administrative Supervisor, this position provides support to the Accounting and Human Resources Department as well as the front desk as needed. The position responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Maintain personnel file room and accounting files;
Create and maintain grant files;
Maintain grant reporting schedule for program managers;
Photocopy, fax, and other related office work;
Create files for new employees, new fiscal year, and as necessary;
Assist payroll accountant during payroll period;
Compile back-up for monthly billing report;
Provide front desk coverage when needed;
Assist with monthly inventory and supply orders;
Assist in setting up for meetings and special events;
Conduct assessments of payroll deduction reports;
Drop off and pick up reports to various programs and agencies as needed;
Provide additional assistance as assigned.
Qualifications Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
2-3 years of administrative experience, or experience in a related field.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of personnel records and sensitive materials.
Good written, verbal communication and math skills.
Ability to work independently and to work with as a member of a team as needed.
Ability to work in an efficient manner with time sensitive tasks and manage timelines.
Experience writing memos and correspondence.
